About Me
I breed and show Silver and Gold Persian cats as a part time hobby that takes up 90% of my time and 100% of my money. So much for part time. What makes it a hobby, I suppose, is the fact that there is no financial profit from this black hole for time and money named Alchemist cattery. Still, I keep on truckin’, doing the best I can and always hope for that perfect kitten to come along and make it all worth while. In the mean time, I meet some wonderful people and get to create beautiful cats; and at the end of the day, that’s not too shabby. In fact, I consider myself blessed.
I noticed Summer Skye, are you going to keep her? I am coming by on Saturday Oct. 3, would like to see what you have. May I stop by? Where are you located. I communicated previously. I am from N.O., La. I am looking for babydoll persian kitten, preferably a female. She will be an inside cat. I lost my Sophie a few months ago from cancer. My name is Caryl ****. I can be called at ***-***-****.
Caryl,
I emailed you back privately.

Jayne, Just wanted to say I love your site and your blogs! I’m actually a Lipizzan horse breeder ( an even deeper black hole of a hobby!). I loved your comments about breeding. I hope you will keep discouraging people from breeding to sort out the wheat from the chaff. There is no doubt in my mind it has to be love it has to be passion plus a whole lot of work.
I had two pet Persians for nearly 18 years. They died and I was looking for two special kittens. I ran across your site and really liked it. I like to meet kittens before I decide so I’ll probably buy two I found in Oregon. They aren’t fixed and I had the usual “breeder” type thought: well maybe I could have one litter of kittens from them just for myself and maybe I could dip my toe into breeding Persians…… Then I read your blog. NO. Breeding horses is enough! Cat breeding is no place for novices and I already have a full time job with my 17 horses!!!! THANK YOU! love what you are doing!
I think you should write a book. You have a gift, knowledge, opinions and are very entertaining.

Chris,
You are so kind with your words of encouragement – thank you!
Wow, 17 horses! That’s a lot of work unless you have a really cute stable boy!
Seriously though, you are an inspiration to us all with your Lipizzans and they have a lot in common with silver Persians since they are born nearly all black and turn mostly all white with maturity. It’s like magic!
I hope you get your kitties soon and have them spayed/neutered. You apparently have enough critters to keep up with!
Jayne, I haven’t talked to you in a while, but Ricky Bobby is an absolute delight and rules our home. I’m continually blown away by how much this kitty is adored. And he absorbs it all like a sponge. His personality is SO sweet and tolerant. I would personally be hiding under a bed, but he’s either parked next to my husband in his office throughout the day or hanging out in my kid’s bedroom. He’s the best. I didn’t know how much love this little guy would bring to us, but there you have it. I can NEVER thank you enough. Ricky’s just the most wonderful guy. We love him.
I’m going to e-mail you some pictures. He’s gorgeous and people literally stop in their tracks when they see him. I wish you continued blessings and I look forward to working with you again. Sincerely, Laura
Laura,
Thank you for giving Ricky Bobby such a wonderful, loving home. I could tell that he fell in love with you and your kids as soon as everyone touched him.
